LEWITT at Abbey Road Studios

At the end of last year, LEWITT was invited to participate in a live recording session at Abbey Road Studios, where we would use the traditional mics you can hear on many famous records side by side with our modern designs.

Abbey Road Studios, located in London, England, is a legendary music recording studio, famous for its iconic status, technical innovation (like stereo recording), and being the creative home for many of the world's most famous musicians, including The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Amy Winehouse.

When Wytse Gerichhausen, alias White Sea Studio, invited us to bring our mics to “Studio 2” to record a live session with the famous YouTube creator Sina Drums and her incredibly talented musicians, we of course said yes.

Sina Drums (Sina Doering) is a highly popular drummer known for her extensive YouTube presence (almost 2 million followers), where she presents drum covers and original music, embodying a modern success story for independent artists.

Modern design and vintage legacy

As we began setting up all instruments and microphones, we knew that we were standing in a place where some of the greatest music of all time had been created.

The idea was to use our modern-design microphones together with some of the famous traditional Beatles' mics from Abbey Road Studios.

Both LEWITT and Abbey Road Studios have always been about pushing the envelope in audio engineering. Using the modern and innovative LEWITT microphones alongside the vintage flagships from Abbey Road just made a lot of sense to me and felt like the perfect blend of history and progress.” - Wytse Gerichhausen

When we started recording, everybody was excited by the sound quality of the room and the microphone setup. Wytse and his team were able to capture every nuance of the incredible performance of Sina's band.

Below you can watch the first performance video that was released on Sina Drums channel and White Sea Studio's "Behind the Scenes" video.

Sina's favorite - The LEWITT MTP W950

The mics that surprised Sina the most were the MTP W950 handheld condenser mics that her three vocalists were using:

"The LEWITT MTP W950 microphones sound amazing, but what I love most about them is their bleed control. Working with a full band, live in the same room, my biggest problem used to be the drum bleed in the vocal mics. The MTP W950 eliminates this problem while sounding fantastic and transparent on all vocals.”

It's a wrap

Recording at Abbey Road Studios was an unforgettable experience. It was an honor to partner with Wytse’s and Sina’s incredible teams and to become part of the rich history of this legendary studio with so many lovely people.
